Neville Teagarden

Neville has had an extensive career in artificial intelligence consulting and software companies and as a senior executive in the Fortune 500. His background includes numerous industries and dozens of financial transactions. He is experienced with two generations of AI technology across multiple industries including:  Deep/Machine Learning, Semantics, Robotics, Analytics and Natural Language.

He started his artificial intelligence career doing research in the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and had development and leadership roles at Advantage kbs, a consulting firm specializing in artificial intelligence systems development for Fortune 500 companies. His most senior AI role was as President/COO of Lucid Holding, Inc.

Neville has also had CIO/CTO roles at three global Fortune 500 class companies, two of which grew from less than $1B to greater than $6B, including ProLogis, Navigant International and Janus Capital. At Navigant International his responsibilities included venture investments and at Janus Capital he assisted in diligence of technology company IPOs. Combined he has been involved in over $15B of M&A transactions as well. He has been investing in AI companies since 2008. He is a board observer at Luminoso and former board member of Lucid and Link3D prior to its successful acquisition by Materialise.

Elizabeth Cook

Elizabeth is a startup advisor and investor for AI, tech and biotech companies associated with MIT. She is also a resident scholar on the MIT campus. She has held roles in venture capital at Castor Ventures, the Alumni Venture Group fund for MIT alumni. Elizabeth was the first hire for MIT.nano, MIT’s largest capital project to date, working with some of the world’s experts on nanotech and AI. Elizabeth has also helped technology experts launch companies from MIT research.

Andy Maus

Andrew Maus

Andy has successfully directed and strategically advised institutions, corporations, and individuals over 15 years in capital markets, investment banking and wealth management.  His role and activities within AI Capital will touch on all aspects of deal execution, including relationship management, capital introduction, advisory services, due diligence, portfolio construction, investment performance, financial modeling, and valuation analysis.

He has worked for several bulge bracket firms: Deutsche Bank, Bear Stearns, and BT Alex. Brown across multiple disciplines in fixed income, equity derivatives and wealth management.  As an investment banker his sector focus was healthcare and energy mainly, where he has worked with several companies applying Ai solutions to their verticals.

Andy likes working with early-stage companies and worked with a Baltimore based technology incubator providing capital introduction and advisory services.  He enjoys engaging companies, learning about their technology and helping them get to the next level. 

Andy has his MBA and Bachelors degree in finance and holds FINRA Series 7 & 63 Licenses. In his free time, Andy can usually be found on or near the water having grown up spending his weekends on the Chesapeake Bay.

Scott Spangler

Mr Spangler’s background includes more than twenty-two years of comprehensive wealth management, investment management, and operational experience.

Throughout his career he has focused on investor relations and investment management. He managed the Mountain Region for E*TRADE’s Corporate Services Group, providing equity compensation consulting services to corporate clients. Following that he founded Ascent Capital Management, a boutique Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), eventually moving his clients to First Western Financial, a Denver-based private trust bank and RIA.

Scott has held Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses as well as life, health and property/casualty insurance licenses.

He is based in Denver, CO and enjoys spending time in the Colorado outdoors cycling, fly fishing, hiking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains.

Josh Sutton

Josh is the former Global Head of AI Practice for Publicis.Sapient. Responsible for strategy and partnerships related to artificial intelligence across all business lines. Previously he launched and subsequently managed the capital markets consulting business at Sapient which grew to become a multi-hundred million dollar business unit. Josh was a member of the leadership team responsible for growing the valuation of the overall organization from $50M when he joined to $3.7B upon its sale to Publicis in 2015.

Josh’s experience includes corporate venture, M&A, harvests and diligence.

Dr. Catherine Havasi

Dr. Catherine Havasi

Dr. Havasi has co-founded and led multiple AI-focused entities, including Luminoso Technologies Inc., where she served as CEO for seven years. Catherine is also a speaker and thought leader in artificial intelligence. In recent years, she has been named by Fast Company as one of the ‘100 Most Creative People in Business’ as well as one of Boston Business Journal’s ’40 Under 40.”

In 1999, Dr. Havasi became involved in Open Mind Common Sense as cofounder with Marvin Minsky and Push Singh, also serving as its director. She then led a team at MIT Media Lab to create ConceptNet, an open-source semantic network based on the information in the OMCS database. In 2010, Dr. Havasi was among the team that founded Luminoso, a text analytics software company to build on the work of ConceptNet.

Dr. Havasi is co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed publications on AI and language.

Dr. Jim Liew

Dr. Jim Kyung-Soo Liew is an Associate Professor of Finance at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and revels in pushing the boundaries of financial knowledge and product development both as an academic, fintech and healthtech entrepreneur. He has published pioneering research in the intersection of social media big data, blockchain, and financial markets. Dr. Liew is also a member of the US Dept of State Speaker Program specializing in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning and Blockchain. Dr. Liew has co-founded SoKat, a fintech and healthtech startup using AI and blockchain technologies.

He currently teaches "Big Data Machine Learning AI," "Crypto-Currencies and Blockchain,” “Advanced Hedge Fund Strategies," and "Leading Entrepreneurship and Innovation" at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman of the Johns Hopkins Innovation Factory and has received the Dean’s Award for Faculty Excellence 2015-2019. He is on the Editorial Board of The Journal of the British Blockchain Association, Journal of Alternative Investments and the Journal of Portfolio Management where he co-authored the most read Invited Editorial "iGDP?".

Previously, Dr. Liew has been with the Carlyle Asset Management Group, Campbell and Company, and Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Podsiadlo is Strategic Advisor to AI Capital, LLC.  He was previously Managing Director and partner of Warburg Pincus & Co. (New York), the global venture capital firm, where he was also president and regulatory officer of Warburg Pincus Funds, a $10 Billion series of 1940 Act funds and Chairman of Warburg Pincus Asset Management, Dublin and Tokyo.  He was also a partner and member of the Board of Directors of Wasatch Global Advisors, an SEC-registered investment advisor in Salt Lake City from 2001-2016.  Gene is currently an Industry Advisor to Cross Creek Ventures in Salt Lake City and Sr. Advisor to ClearImpact Ventures, an VC joint venture with LG Electronics' Nova Prime Ventures unit.  He also serves and has served on several private and public Advisory and Corporate Boards of Directors, including 5 Star Background Checks Inc. and has led numerous private investment acquisitions. 

Gene is currently a trustee of the Plastic Surgery Foundation and member of the Advisory Board, The Singapore Forum.

Jeff Rose

Mr. Rose is a partner of Origin Rose, a boutique R&D firm focused on AI, machine learning, algorithm design, data science strategy and consulting. Previously, he was Founder and CEO of ThinkTopic, a software consultancy specializing in data science, machine learning, computer vision, distributed systems, and custom application development. Prior to ThinkTopic he was the first research engineer at DeepMind and worked there through DeepMind’s acquisition by Google in 2014 for ~$600M setting off the latest hypergrowth in AI technology. Mr. Rose's expertise is in operating systems, algorithms, neural networks, image processing and information retrieval.

Zane Heninger

ZANE HENNINGER

Zane was a Founding and Advisory Partner at AI Capital. He was a former Vice President at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Managing Director at Lehman Brothers. Zane’s professional experience included over twenty-five years in investment banking, private equity and new ventures. After his career in banking, Zane built a team that created, grew and harvested a portfolio of companies focused on improving access to healthcare. Prior to his passing, he was a senior member in charge of venture and private equity transactions for a Colorado-based single family office.

Zane received his MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and his undergraduate degree from Utah State University. Zane’s experience included venture investing, private placements, structuring, recapitalizations, harvests, diligence, fund raising and talent acquisition. He is survived by… keep reading
