PORTFOLIO

Applied Artificial Intelligence

AI Capital seeks to make investments in artificial intelligence (AI) enterprise software companies that deliver critial goods and services. Targeted industries include healthcare and life sciences, food supply, manufacturing and energy. Public safety is central to all of these industries, and as such we also target companies that serve this need, largely through the theme of cybersecurity.

Investments are focused on software businesses in tertiary technology markets. These markets have traditionally been underserved and overlooked by the large venture capital firms based in New England and in the Bay Area. Even if these firms were to explore these markets, the check sizes required to make a meaningful impact on multi-billion dollar funds are inconsistent with the needs of these hidden gems. This gap in the market, combined with more reasonable valuations provides AI Capital with a competitive advantage. Finally, there is a unique alignment of culture and ethics between our firms’ principals, our advisors and the entrepreneurs we serve. Our mid-west values and cowboy ethics are ingrained in everything we do.

Agorai

In ancient Greece the word agora applied to an open space used for markets and public meetings. In modern Greek the term means "marketplace".

Agorai (“agora-ai”, pronounced AUG-or-I) provides a marketplace for data assets, one of the key ingredients for AI solutions – either by selling access to them in a controlled fashion or by using them as collateral in financing transactions. Effectively, Agorai is enabling the development of data as a new asset class, allowing firms to structure and monetize their data assets.

Luminoso

Luminoso is an industry leader in the application of Natural Language Understanding (NLU) technology, used to drive significant results at the enterprise level across multiple industries.

Applications include call-center routing technology that intelligently parses voice and text communications to understand customer intent across nearly two-dozen languages. You may be familiar Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, and Google Voice. These systems rely on Natural Language Processing (NLP), just one component of NLU. Using a variety of AI techniques, NLU advances the conversation with the enterprise customer far beyond parroting a customer’s spoken word.

As an example, with Luminoso, the Centers for Disease Control integrated its historical quantitative data with real-time qualitative data, including text from social media. This allowed the CDC to examine public discussion to monitor and predict the spread of COVID by identifying new cases even when a person did not specifically mention or know what they were suffering from.

The world’s largest technology companies use Luminoso’s market insights to develop advertising campaigns and major automobile manufacturers have used Luminoso to detect product flaws early in the production cycle, enabling the correction of manufacturing processes mid-production, ultimately resulting in minimizing brand degradation.

Netra

Netra is a ground-breaking video summary SaaS platform that provides video contextualization for live streams and stored video in milliseconds - effectively in real-time.

Founded out of research at MIT’s Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), Netra is the leader in helping businesses make sense of imagery and video. NetraAI works with live streams and archived videos to detect context, safety and object detection for online video contracts. Netra’s software has a strong IP position with three (3) issued patents and another pending.

Netra’s solutions are critical in today’s hyper-accelerated digital media economy. As an example, with live sporting events being cancelled due to COVID, Netra was able to work with a major CPG brand to reallocate its sports programming budget.  Working with the broadcaster, Netra was able to increase the CPG’s spend an additional 13% for context on demand.

Looking ahead, strategic OEM contracts are scheduled for implementation in 2021 and several new streaming media and television deals are projected.
